Brownie: Private Investigator

Brownie was a hardboiled detective in the 1930s, the golden age of private investigating. Born to a farming family, he struck off for adventure on the East coast. He set up shop in the rough and tumble meat packing district of the city. It was dark; the kind of place a bat could go to get out of the brightness of their cave and catch some z’s. On one particular evening of note, Brownie sat in his office with his two best friends: Jim Beam and his Smith and Wesson. Business had dried up, as of late, but he didn’t care. Or at least he wouldn’t until the bottle was dry.

Then she came in. She came in to his office nervous, but with a chilly air about her. Whiskers like eyelashes. Toenails like a cougar. And those legs! (all four of them) were directly proportional to the rest of her body. Turns out somebody had broken into her nest and swiped the corn kernels: her favorite. She was more frantic than a guinea pig in a cosmetic testing facility. Brownie offered her a drink from my Jim Bean dispensing water bottle, but she declined. Brownie offered his services as a private investigator instead.
