Many things have changed since 1968. Foreign relations, entertainment, and technology have all developed in wildly different directions. However, as the old saying goes, “the more things change, the more things stay the same.” Rock and roll is as popular now as it was then, pizza pie is still delicious, and, of course, we as a people are still impressed when we learn that stars are just like us.
The only difference was that in the late sixties, celebrities weren’t the stars of Hollywood stage and screen. No, the real stars of this time were none other than the animal kingdom’s hottest celebs…
They go on vacation! Here we see a hippo family on a “river excursion.” When it’s time to beat the summertime heat the hippo family packs it’s bags and heads slightly further down the river than it usually goes for a good old fashioned “staycation.” Just like you! Jeepers!
They exploit their young! Here are a couple of candid shots of Sam the baby hippo learning how to “act!” Just how many mothers in this country use their children as a fashion statement or force them to jump on stage and dance, so too must this tiny hippo splash around for others’ amusement. And, just like little Sam here, we all occasionally hire a man in a wetsuit named Lutz carry us around from place to place.
We all do that.
Right?
It's my blog.

I really hope this isn’t making light of our daily struggles. Do you know how difficult it is to find fit men in wetsuits to carry us hither and thither, the economy being what it is and all?
Shame on you Ramsey Ess. You are not a friend of ours.
Should you come to Africa, you best not come within 10 feet of any river or stream with a depth of over 6 feet, for that is where you will perish.
