Welcome to the inaugural edition of Famous Hamsters in History (brought to you by State Farm Insurance):

Famous Hamster 104

Snuggles was born in 1913 and died of old age in 1916. During the Great War he fought in the service of the Aéronautique Militaire, and with a tally of 35 hamster pilots shot down, Snuggles remains ranked among the top flying aces, hamster or human, of the war. Due to the short life expectancy of hamsters, Snuggles did not live to see the end of the war, though “Faites-le pour Snuggles!” became a rallying cry for his fellow pilots. In 1922 Snuggles was posthumously made an Officer of the Legion of Honor.
